1. What are the five major functions of management?
Is planning the most important function? If so, why?
2. Explain the difference between open-end and closed end systems.
3. What is the purpose of forming committees and how do they help the management in solving
problems and making decisions?
4. Describe in detail the superior-subordinate communication.
5. Why is change inevitable and desirable? Can organisation survive without change?

6. Are the characteristics of a good manager inborn traits or can these be acquired by environmental
influences?
7. What are programmed decisions? Discuss briefly various traditional and modern techniques of
making such decisions.
8. Describe characteristics of organisational culture and make distinction between culture and climate.
9. Organisational structure provides the framework for undertaking managerial functions. Discuss it.
10. Effective leadership is that which goes well with given situation. Comment.
11. What are some of the problems encountered in the process of planning? Which of these problems
generally contribute heavily towards failure of some plans?
