2 (a) What is the objective of time sharing system? Explain how it is achieved.

3 (a) Explain the two general approaches used to handle critical sections in operating systems.
(b) Explain how timestamp protocol ensures conflict serializability.
4 (a) What do you mean by address binding for a user program and discuss multi step processing of a user program.
(b) What is paging? Explain in detail sharing of code in a paging environment.
5 (a) Draw the resource-allocation graph with a cycle but no deadlock. Explain.
(b) Suggest one method each to avoid “hold and wait” and “circular wait” condition.
