SECTION - A

Q1. Attempt all question. Give answer of each question in about 50 words. 1x10=10
(i) Distinguish between linear and nonlinear network.
(ii) Mention the name of bridge used for measurement of induction and for accurate measurement of small capacitance.
(iii) What do you mean by a rectifier and power supply?
(iv) What do you mean by a transistor?
(v) Discuss the necessary biasing of emitter an collector of a transistor.
(vi) Differentiate between an amplifier and an oscillator.
(vii) Explain the need for modulation.
(viii) Draw circuit symbol of a N-P-N transistor and explain it.
(ix) What is multimeter? Mention some of its uses.
(x) Draw only basic circuit diagrams of P-N-P transistor in common base and common emitter mode.


SECTION – B
Attempt all question. Give answer of each question in about 200 words 5x5=25

Q2. Discuss the charging and discharging of a capacitor through resistance. What is time constant?
OR
Define current gain parameters 'a' and 'b' for common base and common emitter configuration respectively in a transistor. Establish a relation between them.

Q3. Deduce the conditions of balance for Maxwell's A.C. Bridge.
Or
Deduce the conditions of balance for Wein's series resistance bridge.

Q4. What do you mean by intrinsic and extrinsic semiconductors? Draw voltage-current characteristic curve for a p-n junction diode using circuit diagrams.
OR
What do you mean by a filter circuit? Describe capacitor input filter.

Q5. Draw a base-bias circuit diagram for a common emitter amplifier and obtain it stability factor.
OR
Explain the principle of positive and negative feedback of an amplifier.

Q6. Explain the principle of transmitter and receiver.
OR
Draw a circuit diagram for amplitude modulation and explain its working.


SECTION – C
Attempt any two questions. Give answer of each question in about 500 words. 7.5x2=15
Q7. State and explain Thevenin's network theorem. Using Thevenin's theorem find the current in 10? resistor in the following circuit.(Attached)

Q8. What do you understand by the 'breakdown' of a p-n junction? Explain the difference between zener and avalanche breakdown. Explain with circuit diagram how a zener diode is used as a voltage regulator?

Q9. What are multistage amplifier? Explain the working of R-C coupled amplifier using circuit diagram. Discuss the frequency response curve in low, middle and high frequency region and define bend-width of the amplifier.

Q10. What is cathode ray oscilloscope(C.R.O.)?Explain the working of its various parts and give briefly amplication of CRO.

Q11. Giving the circuit diagram of Hartley oscillator. Explain the working of its various parts. Write down the condition of sustained electrical oscillations.
