UNIT-1
1. Explain with reference to the context any FOUR of the following passages, adding critical omments where necessary;-
(a) Now might I do it but,now he is praying;
And now I"ll do't: and so he goes to heaven;
And am I revenged.
(b) O Regan Gonerill!
Your old kind father, whose frank heart gave all!
O,that way madness lies;let me shun that;
No more of that.
(c) She is too subtle for thee;and her smoothness,
Her very silence and her patience,Speak to the people, and they pity her.
Thou art a fool;
(d) I find my Zenith doth depend upon
A most auspicious star, whose influence
If now I count not, but omit, my fortunes
will ever after drop.
(e) ...The silver ore of pure charity is an expensive
article in the catalogue of a man's good qualities;
whereas the sentimental French plate I use instead
of it makes just as good as a show, and pays no tax.
(f) Come, woo me, woo me; for now i am in a holiday
humour, and like enough to consent, what would
you say to me now, an I were your very very Rosalind?
(g) ...Lord, what is a lover, that it can give?Why,
one makes lovers as fast as one pleases, and they
live as long as they pleases; and they die as soon
as one pleases; and then if one pleases one makes more.
(h) This was the noblest Roman of them all;
All the conspirators save only he
Did that they did in envy of great Caesar;
He only, in a general honest thought
And common good to all, made one of them.
