Max. Marks: 100
1. a) A point 20 mm below the reference xy line is the top view of three points P, Q,
and R. P is 20 mm below HP, Q is 35 mm above HP and R is on HP. Draw the
projections of the three points and state their positions and quadrants in which
they are situated.
The distance between the end projectors through the end points of line AB is
40 mm. The end A is 20 mm above HP and 15 mm infront of UP. The end B is
45 mm infront of VP and above HP. Front view of the line measures 50 mm.
Drawthe projections of line AB and find its true length and true inclinations
with HP and VP.
OR
c) A 30' - 60" set square of 60 mm longest side is so kept such that the longest
side is an VP making an angle of 30'to HP. surface of the set square is
inclined at 40'to VP. Draw its projections. 2
2. a) A pentagonal pyramid 40 mm side of base and 70 mm altitude rests with one of
its corners of the base on HP such that two of the base edges passing through
the corner on which it rests make equal inclinations with HP. Axis of the pyramid
leans to the left and is inclined at 30" to HP and 45" to VP. Draw the projections
of the pyramid when the base is nearer to the observer. 2

b) A cone of base 80 mm diameter and height 100 mm lies with one of its generators
on Hp and the axis inclined to VP at 40". Draw the top and front views of the
cone. 2
3. a) A tetrahedron of side 65 mm is resting on one of its faces, with an edge
perpendicular to VP. lt is cut by a section plane perpendicular to VP such that
the true shape of the section is an isosceles triangle of base 45 mm and aftitude
35 mm. Find the inclination ofthe section plane with HP and draw the projections
of the cut solid and true shape of the section . 2
OR
b) A pentagonal pyramid, base edge 30 mm and height 70 mm, is resting on its
base with one base edge perpendicular toVP and on the left side. A string is
wound from the extreme right base corner around the slant surfaces and brought
back to the same corner. Find geometrically the shortest length of the string
required and show the position of the string in the top and front views of the
pyramid. i
4. a) A cylinder 60 mm in diameter and 30 mm in height is standing vertically on its
base. lt carries a cube of 30 mm side over it. On top of the cub-rets a square
pyramid of height 50 mm and side of base 20 mm. The base edge of the pyramid
are parallel to the horizontal edges of the cube and are equally inclined to the
VP. The axes of the three solid are coaxial. Draw the isometric projection of the

b) Draw the SFV, TV and RV of the machine component shown in fig.1 . n
Fig. 1
Draw the sectional front view, top view and side view of protected type flanged
coupling to connect two shafts of 20 mm diameter.
OR
Draw the SFV, TV and side view looking from the spigot and of a socket and
spigot joint to connect two shafts of 20 mm diameter.
