UNIT-I
1. a) Derive the constitutive relations between the stress and strain 6
b) A metallic bar 300 x 100 x 40mm is subjected to a force of 5KN, 6KN and 7KN along X,Y and Z directions respectively. Determine the change in volume of the block take E=2x105N/mm^2 and poisons ratio 0.25 6
OR
2. Derive the expression for analysis of uniformly tapering circular rod subjected to an axial load p 12
UNIT-II
3. a) A rectangular beam 300mm deep is simply supported over a span of 4m. Determine the uniformly distributed load per meter which the beam may carry if t he bending stress should not exceed 120 N/mm2 take I = 8x106 mm^4
b) A cantilever 2m long is loaded with a uniformly distributed load of 2kN/m run over a length of 1m from the free end. It also carries a point load of 4KN at a distance of 0.5m from the free end. Draw the S.F. and B.M. diagrams 6
