TRB Mechanical Solved Question on Venturimeter

Appearing for TRB Polytechnic Lecturer Exam 2017 ? Want some solved questions for Mechanical Engineering? Here is a question which was asked in the TRP Engineering College previous year exam held in 2016. This question is under the Syllabus of Fluid Mechanics and Machinery. Question: A venturimeter of 20 mm throat diameter is used to measure the velocity of water in a horizontal pipe of 40 mm diameter. If the pressure difference between the pipe and throat sections is found to be 30 kPa then, neglecting frictional losses, the flow velocity is:
(a) 0.2 m/s
(b) 1.0 m/s
(c) 1.4 m/s
(d) 2 m/s
